Firecat Projects: 2015 Flashback

On this Friday night ten years ago, my first official solo gallery exhibit opened at Firecat Projects in Bucktown, July 24-August 22, 2015. What a great night and show it was with lots of friends and family in attendance. A lot of cool things happened that month. The show was generously sponsored by Doug Sohn of Hot Doug’s. I had an artist talk in collaboration with Chicago writer and historian Bill Savage who gave a presentation on: Accidental Beauties: the Aesthetics and Symbolism of Water Tanks (and Other Antiquated Infrastructure). Got interviewed by Mike Stephen of WGN Radio for his Outside the Loop show. There were articles and reviews in The Chicago Sun-Times, New City, DNAInfo, and Chicago Magazine. And gallery owner, Stan Klein was a great support and Firecat an awesome gallery for up-and-coming artists to show their work. Fun times and great memories. Some of the pieces in that show are still available and can be viewed in my studio (visits by appointment). Please contact me if interested. See below for a video recap I put together at the time with shots from the opening reception, and scroll down to see images of the paintings included in the show.
