water series (works in progress), acrylic on canvas, 2010This is a new direction for me. A similar color palate that I normally use but the rivers and lakes imagery and abstract style is different for me. I haven't done abstracts for a long time so it feels good to explore - focusing more on the colors and shapes vs. image details.
The rivers and lakes are based on aerial photographs I took from an airplane somewhere over Michigan/Canadian border. So far, there are four paintings in the works with more to come. I'm shooting to have these done in time for the Cornelia Arts Building open house on March 12th. If I can, I'll thrown in a larger-scale piece too.
