New abstract painting: “The Blue Memory of Distance”

New painting: “The Blue Memory of Distance”, oil on canvas, 24x30, 2025. This piece began as a cityscape but evolved into an abstract composition that still hints at architectural forms. I experimented with the color palette and used different techniques to create distinct textures throughout the painting. The painting's title references Rebecca Solnit's essay "The Blue of Distance" from her book, A Field Guide to Getting Lost (great book). It has multiple relatable meanings which is perfect for an abstract painting that allows for more personal and nuanced interpretations. The painting is part of my abstract cityscapes series.
